Photographers are always attempting to capture the power behind an event. In these 20 photographs the photographers succeeded to capture the emotion, the grandeur, or the power of the moment in amazing ways. The most appalling photograph of the series come from the camera of serial killer Robert Ben Rhoades who snapped the image just moments before slaying Regina Walters. One of the most magnificent photos was snapped by technology, instead of man, as the Hubble looked back billions of years in time to glimpse at 100′s of galaxies. We look in horror as a photographer snaps a picture of his family and his assassin preparing to shoot. An image of a woman crying after the Japanese Tsunami tugs at our heart, but not more than the child trying to awaken his drunk father in the streets.
Photographs show us our world and universe in dramatic ways that words can never match. Photos from science, amateurs, and professionals combine to inform us of the drama of life.

Photo below: The Kiss of Life.
Taken in 1967 by Rocco Morabito, this is one of the most powerful photographs we’ve seen. Called the Kiss of Life photo, it shows a utility worker named J.D. Thompson giving mouth-to-mouth to co-worker Randall G. Champion after he went unconscious following contact with a high voltage line.
What’s even more incredible is Champion not only survived this thanks to Thompson, but he lived an extra 35 years. He died in 2002. Thompson is still alive today.

Photo below: Chilling photo of Regina Walters, moments before being murdered – Robert Ben Rhoades was a truck driver/serial killer that liked to pick up hitchhikers and torture them for a while in his truck before killing them. One of his victims was a 14 year old runaway from Texas named Regina Walters. Walters’ remains were found in an abandoned barn in Illinois. However, her disappearance wasn’t connected to Rhoades until after Rhoades was arrested for abducting another woman. When police searched Rhoades’ home they found this photo.
