You might think cosplay requires a lot of costumes and accessories. But as Anucha Saengchart (aka Lonelyman) shows, you just need some creativity and some basic materials. Low Cost Cosplay is an extremely popular project in which he documents how he morphs into pop culture characters, on a low budget and with little time.
Every post on the Cosplay Low Cost Facebook page and Instagram account is a four-act costume. The first part shows Saengchart as he inspects the object (s) he will use to produce his look. It can be a piece of fruit, paint, or even ketchup and fries. On the second part, he takes a snapshot of his work in progress. The last two parts are a side-by-side comparison of his work and the source image.
Perhaps surprisingly, Saengchart captures the essence of what he is trying to portray by arranging his materials creatively, or by using a forced perspective. Although imperfect, the creations of Low Cost Cosplay will make you smile.
