The Guardian’s third and latest instalment in its ‘Cities’ series of mash-ups juxtaposing the old and new is a fun project that mashes classic album covers with Google Street View scenes.
The covers are superimposed over the locations where they were shot, and the resulting images are a nostalgic trip down memory lane for music fans.
Paul’s Boutique by the Beastie Boys, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? by Oasis and the iconic Beatles Abbey Road record are just a few of the iconic covers featured.
While most of the covers look decidedly dated when viewed in contemporary settings, they also offer a glimpse into how little or much the areas have changed over the years.
