Leaf Art by Tang Chiew Ling #1 (18 Pics)

Fashion in Leaves

Fashion in Leaf is the latest creative endeavor by Malaysian artist Tang Chiew Ling, who is no stranger to mixing mediums and working with leaves, that features a number of "dresses" depicted with carefully placed foliage. The series combines her minimal illustrations with a variety of the organic material to present a stylish array of fashion design.
The artist's clever use of leaves never ceases to impress and invigorate. With this series, she proposed to focus her craft on one topic, forcing herself to be discerning and creative in her choice of design. While her past projects centered on the beauty of "unattractive leaves," Ling admits that she foraged for more special and visually appealing materials this time to represent an elegant fashion line. Of course, there are still withered leaves in the mix; though, even the crinkly, brown leaves that she found made for a couture ensemble outfitted with an equally fashionable hat.

Object Art: 1

Object Art: 1 combines two-dimensional illustrations and actual leaves to produce lovely little slices of life. Her tiny silhouettes of people playfully interact with the carefully positioned foliage to create some truly spirited and charming images.
The series draws inspiration from subtle yet resounding moments in life. From scenes of childhood memories of frolicking in fields and romantic nights walking in the rain, Ling captures emotions that leap off the page and into the viewer's heart. Even the images of daring activities communicate recognizable sentiments. Whether you've gone parasailing or not, there's a sense of summery adventure with a leaf cleverly serving as the parachute. Ultimately, the artist says she uses "inconspicuous/unattractive leaves to create fun, hope and happiness."
